10 Months!!

I can.not.believe that Libby is 10 months old (almost 10 1/2 now!). Time really does fly by. We don’t have many stats on her since we don’t go back to the doctor until she is a one year old! BUT I can tell you  that she…

*Is all over the place and is just a speck away from walking…

*Is getting more and more independent..will sometimes still let me spoon feed her but she would rather feed herself with finger foods

*Still isn’t wearing shoes because either a)they are all too wide for her skinny little feet or b) she pulls them right off. But hey…in all honesty I would rather be barefoot all day, too.

*Has now flown twice and did wonderfully (except one time of having good little fit…thank you to the nice people sitting around me who didn’t give me nasty stares)

*Loves swimming as long as you don’t put that cold water in her face! haha

*Is talking more and more

*Sleeps about 12 hours a night with 2 good naps a day

*Her favorite things to do are still to go swinging, read a book and spin around in circles with her daddy

Here are some of her 10 month pics (which was SUPER fun trying to get her to NOT peel off the sticker every 2 seconds 🙂 )

Mother’s Day 2013

Wow! It has been a long time since I have updated and  A LOT of things have happened in the past month (Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Libby turning 10 months old!) So we will start with the first one..Mother’s Day!

The entire week before Mother’s Day Libby was sick was nasty Hand, Foot, Mouth…it was awful…if you have kids, pray they never get it! Poor thing…anyways…we weren’t sure if we would even get to do anything that weekend but thankfully things began healing up on Friday and by Saturday she was good to go!

This same weekend my brother graduated with his Masters of Divinity from seminary on that Saturday morning, so the whole family was in town to celebrate him. We were so proud of him-he worked so hard!

We celebrated him during the day (some how don’t have pics on my camera or phone that aren’t blurry) and celebrated my mom for Mother’s Day on Saturday night (again…no pics! boo!).

Sunday morning rolled around and y’all…my husband spoils me so much and is so thoughtful about gifts he gives and things does. He wanted me to have special first Mother’s Day. We woke up and took a trip to Shipley Donuts AFTER opening my WRAPPED (big deal) presents.

Libby got me a HUGE coffee mug and a Keurig! yahoo! We set that up ASAP, got donuts and came home for breakfast. After we were finished we went to church. Justin said I could pick anywhere to eat for lunch but all I really wanted to go was go to this place called Newks that has awesome sandwiches and have a picnic in the front yard. So that’s what we did-so fun and relaxing!

That evening we met up with Mama and Papa Kates for some delish italian food to celebrate her for Mother’s Day!

Whew! I don’t normally describe in full detail..if you are still reading this…enjoy the pics from the weekend!

He is faithful

At school my kids line up to leave right next to where my desk is. Above my desk I have a random assortment of things-one of those things being a lot of different favorite verses or quotes scribbled on different pieces of paper that I come across. This week one of the girls on her way out the door said, “Mrs. Kates I like that you write all those things on board above your desk! I like it a lot.” and skipped on out of my room with a smile on her face. First off-I was just impressed that she had read them instead of talking to her friends in line. Secondly I was wondering what exactly had I written? It had been a while since I had actually sat down and re-read the ones I had written up there.

The following two are the two that really stuck out to me and I remember exactly when I wrote them. It brought back to me all the things the Lord was showing me at that point in time and how faithful he has been since then. I didn’t write down where I got these from…probably a devotional I was doing or a blog I was reading at the time…all that said-they spoke to me today in a new way with  a few things that are going on in our country and just life in general.

“Jesus was not afraid to submit to people who were spiritually less than Himself because he knew God’s greater authority would transform injustice to justice.”

“True faith, however, rests in God’s integrity and faithfulness. A person of faith can entrust his calling and gifts to the timing and wisdom of God. True faith rests in God, even when what is promised is not yet seen. It does not strive; it trusts. Abraham’s faith outgrew his ambition because he learned to trust that the Lord was faithful. (Hebrews 10:23)”

By the way-Libby will be 10 months old this weekend? How is that even possible??? Be on the look out for a Mother’s Day post and her 10 month post! Ahh!
