Father’s Day 2013

Disclaimer: Long post ahead

Libby went all out for her daddy on his first Father’s Day…I mean what 10 month old doesn’t already plan these celebrations? ha!

The week prior she had gone to a few stores with me to help pick out some new tools at Lowes and a few things at Hobby Lobby needed to make a project for him…and she is so sweet and even helped me wrap his presents! (literally…couldn’t get her away from the wrapping paper…or tape…)

I wanted so badly for him to have a special first Father’s Day and to have a fun day. She slept in all the way to 6:30am so that she could help make some of his favorites for breakfast-blueberry muffins, burned bacon and A LOT of orange juice. After we had some breakfast, he opened his cards and gifts then it was off to church!

There is a driving range in our neighborhood that also has a grill that just opened up so we thought we would give it a try! We had a lot of fun-the burgers were AWESOME and it was super relaxed…Libby was able to be all over the place in the grass while Justin hit some golf balls and while I attempted to at least get one good shot in! Most pictures from that we are all super sweaty-especially Libs-poor thing is just a little hot body and has been since she was born.

After that we came home and watched some US open while napping.

Then we went to the backyard for some bubbles fun with Pepper. I originally bought the bubbles for Libby…but Pepper likes them even more than she does. It’s crazy! She runs around chasing and jumping for them….whatever works!

It was a fun day and hopefully a special one for Libby’s daddy. Watching him be a dad to her is seriously one of the biggest blessings…I could watch them for hours together.

To end the post-I have to give a shout out to my sweet Daddy and also Justin’s dad. They are both men of God that we respect and love so much. The best part though is they love our sweet Libby fiercely, and because of that we feel loved. We love y’all!!

Getaway

Justin and I had been trying to plan a weekend get away for quite some time and due to many factors we hadn’t been able to go. I mean let’s get real…the main reason we hadn’t gone was because I honestly could not bring myself to leave Libby for an entire 48 hours. Some of you that do not have children may think, “come on she is almost 11 months old!” and some of you that do have children still may be thinking, “come on she is almost 11 months old!” ha! But it was hard for me…I think mostly because during the week during school I wasn’t seeing her much anyways so to think about leaving during the time when I was getting to spend time with her was just not going to happen.

All that to say…the weekend had finally come and Justin’s parents graciously said they would keep the Libster while we were gone.

Let me just tell you-I am SO GLAD that we went. We were able to reconnect and have really good conversations and pray over the next year for us as a family.

We went to Fredricksburg and stayed in a little cabin outside of town where we were greeted with donkeys in the morning and deer the rest of the day. Most of Saturday we walked up and down Main St. going in and out of all the cute stores, eating yummy food and taking pictures of all the pretty flowers! Enjoy a few pics from the weekend.

We had such a great time, but were definitely ready to get back and see Lib…thankfully she didn’t forget who we were 🙂

Mother’s Day 2013

Wow! It has been a long time since I have updated and  A LOT of things have happened in the past month (Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Libby turning 10 months old!) So we will start with the first one..Mother’s Day!

The entire week before Mother’s Day Libby was sick was nasty Hand, Foot, Mouth…it was awful…if you have kids, pray they never get it! Poor thing…anyways…we weren’t sure if we would even get to do anything that weekend but thankfully things began healing up on Friday and by Saturday she was good to go!

This same weekend my brother graduated with his Masters of Divinity from seminary on that Saturday morning, so the whole family was in town to celebrate him. We were so proud of him-he worked so hard!

We celebrated him during the day (some how don’t have pics on my camera or phone that aren’t blurry) and celebrated my mom for Mother’s Day on Saturday night (again…no pics! boo!).

Sunday morning rolled around and y’all…my husband spoils me so much and is so thoughtful about gifts he gives and things does. He wanted me to have special first Mother’s Day. We woke up and took a trip to Shipley Donuts AFTER opening my WRAPPED (big deal) presents.

Libby got me a HUGE coffee mug and a Keurig! yahoo! We set that up ASAP, got donuts and came home for breakfast. After we were finished we went to church. Justin said I could pick anywhere to eat for lunch but all I really wanted to go was go to this place called Newks that has awesome sandwiches and have a picnic in the front yard. So that’s what we did-so fun and relaxing!

That evening we met up with Mama and Papa Kates for some delish italian food to celebrate her for Mother’s Day!

Whew! I don’t normally describe in full detail..if you are still reading this…enjoy the pics from the weekend!
